Controversy as Bad Bunny Announced To Perform at Super Bowl

Us Homeland Security Kristi Noem is stirring controversy with her response to the selection of Puerto Rican pop star, Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio (more popularly known as Bad Bunny), as next year’s Super Bowl halftime performer.

On a podcast hosted by Benny Johnson, Noem stated that she would ensure ICE would be present at the event in order to make sure that only “law-abiding Americans who love this country” could attend.

Bad Bunny responded to the backlash during a monologue on Saturday Night Live, ending with a message in Spanish, directed to “Latinos and Latinas in the world and here in the US”.

He has used his platform to spotlight Puerto Rico and Latin communities. His activism has often put him at odds with Trump and his supporters, especially in regards to anti-immigration policies involving ICE.

“Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the United States could also travel here, or to any part of the world. But there was the issue of, like, f—king ICE outside (my concert). And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”

He revealed that he excluded U.S. stops from his latest tour due to concerns that ICE agents might target fans outside concert venues

In 2019, the National Football League launched a multi-year collaboration with Roc Nation, the entertainment company founded by hip-hop icon Jay-Z. As part of the agreement, Roc Nation plays a key role in guiding the NFL’s choice of halftime show performers.

Since the partnership began, the Super Bowl stage has featured major artists including Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, The Weeknd, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Rihanna, Usher, and Kendrick Lamar.

The Super Bowl is set for February 8, 2026 in Santa Clara, California.
